floral fantasies

The floral fantasies series, is intended to be quite playful and experimental. Each image incorporates some element of the fantastic. Most of these images are created using a technique known as "montage" - "sandwiching" two slides together to create a third image different from either of the original two images. I also utilized multiple exposures in camera to achieve playful, fantastical looks. Flowers are the subjects of this series because they are so naturally colorful and playful. Their nature readily lent itself to my purposes. Additionally, flowers were perfect extrapolative subjects because they've been viewed so frequently - in photographs, paintings and real life - that the viewer has likely become numb to their beauty and to their potential. As always, I attempt to provide the lens through which the viewer can see "old" subjects anew.
